Everything Under One Roof
The Math4U portal provides a complete platform for practicing all aspects of high school mathematics, conveniently gathered in one place. The content is clearly organized into 12 thematic topics, 56 subtopics, with each subtopic further divided into two or three parts. This structure remains consistent across all tests, games, and applications available on the portal.
Each topic is comprehensively covered with an abundance of examples, games, motivational materials, and interactive learning tools. Students and teachers alike can access a vast collection of resources for individual practice or classroom integration:
- 6,000 practice examples, including 2,000 that can be solved mentally
- 300 training games for mastering core skills
- 220 "find the error" problems to enhance critical thinking
- 50 application-based examples illustrating practical uses of mathematics
- Available in 5 languages, perfect for CLIL, bilingual schools, or international students
Beyond its extensive resources, the portal offers innovative features designed especially for teachers:
- Create customized tests and assignments tailored to your needs
- Fill games and competitions with problems of your choice
- Design a test for version A and automatically generate version B
- Receive immediate student results and provide prompt feedback
Extensive Database of Problems
The database of 6,000 problems provides comprehensive coverage of both core and advanced high school mathematics and is thoughtfully organized into small, manageable sections. This structure allows students to practice specific topics or prepare for comprehensive exams such as the High School Leaving Exams. Teachers can efficiently use the database to create tests and assignments. The collection includes 2,000 "easy" problems designed for mental solving and 2,000 "twin" problems, perfect for generating two versions of an assignment (versions A and B).
A special feature of the database is a set of 220 "Find the Mistake" problems. These are examples with detailed, worked-out solutions where students must identify and correct errors. These problems highlight common mistakes, emphasize the importance of defining solution conditions, and aim to enhance students' critical thinking skills.
Students can access the entire database through the Math4Student app, while teachers can use Math4Teacher to create worksheets, assignments, and tests in various output formats.
Every problem in the database is carefully crafted by high school teachers and thoroughly reviewed by university educators. The problems feature a wide range of illustrations, high-quality mathematics typesetting in LaTeX, and come with user-friendly interfaces for both applications and games, ensuring a consistent and seamless experience across the portal.
Extensive Database of Training Games
Students can practice with 300 pre-designed games, including Pairs, Matching Games, Find All, or Slot Machine. These games are designed primarily for drill-based practice of fundamental knowledge and can be used for independent learning at home or collaborative activities in the classroom.
Additionally, teachers can create an unlimited number of customized games and competitions tailored to their students. Game templates (such as Quiz Games) can be populated with selected questions from the extensive database of 6,000 problems. This allows teachers to design games specifically suited to their class, school, or students' proficiency levels. They can also create games and quizzes for different groups of students—gifted learners, those needing additional support, or those preparing for various mathematics competitions.
Mathematics in Five Languages
Math4U offers students and teachers the opportunity to improve their mathematical English, Spanish, Polish, Czech, or Slovak. All applications and the entire database of 6,000 questions are fully functional in five languages. Users can switch between these languages at any step while using the applications.
Enhancing language skills allows students to participate in international events, summer schools, workshops, competitions, and other activities. Technical English, in particular, is a key foundation for further studies at universities. Additionally, multilingual educational materials can support international student mobility and help integrate children from foreign countries into mainstream (non-language) schools. In language-focused schools, these materials can be directly incorporated into lessons.
In recognition of Math4U project contribution to language education, the team of Math4U received the European Language Label Award in 2020. Teachers Creating for Teachers
Since its launch, the Math4U portal has welcomed over 120,000 visitors, with around 600 mathematics teachers registering for teacher accounts. Educators highly value the portal’s well-typeset mathematical content, accurate formulations, and diverse range of problems. Exercises originally designed by teachers for their own lessons are now accessible to fellow educators and their students through the math4u.vsb.cz portal.
